Memories of Veneration (Ongoing)

This new series explores the role of memory in the creation of sacred spaces. I revisit the sacred beauty I experienced at places of veneration, both public and personal, through the creation of monoprints that are created purely through my memory of the place. I then occasionally augment these ‘memory images’ with conté and charcoal, using reference photographs from my visits to those places. The end goal is to create a series that plays with the overlap (and divergence) between memory and recorded perception, with time and distance, and that ultimately captures the feeling of pilgrimage.
